David Peters is a New Mexico singer/songwriter. His music has been nominated for several awards, winning, with Ron Crowder and Steven Nery, The Norman Petty Producer’s Award at the 2024 New Mexico Music Awards for his album In the Living which was released in February 2024. David also won Best Song in 2019 for “Don’t Take Me for a Hero.” He has performed in coffee houses, restaurants, songwriter showcases, festivals, fairs, and has toured the Southwest in addition to hosting a weekly open mic in Albuquerque.
His Songs cover a wide range of emotions and topics from the sadness of losing love and friendship to humor about the weather. He has songs about war, teaching, the environment and child abuse. His songs appeal to all ages.
David’s songwriting style is primarily folk/Americana, but he mixes in some blues, pop, and country. His song writing influences include Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Lennon/McCartney.
